Distance learning course on the Legal Aspects of E-Commerce for the East African Community (EAC) from 7 May to 8 June 2012.The main objective of the UNCTAD training course is to contribute to capacity building of government officials and key industry players of EAC, in particular, policy and law makers to be considered for the drafting of electronic commerce laws. The course will also help the participants understand the legal implications of e-commerce and identify the main development policy issues involved as well as priority areas for law reform. This course will enable participants to share progress made both nationally and regionally in the cyber legislation process. Stakeholders from various institutions in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda will benefit of the distance learning course on the Legal Aspect of Electronic Commerce developed by UNCTAD’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Law Reform and TrainForTrade Programmes. UNCTAD/TrainForTrade prepares middle managers from Maldives Ports Limited on “Methods and Tools of Modern Port Management” (29 April - 12 May 2012) Moving forward to the second half of the training cycle, the Maldives Ports Limited, in collaboration with UNCTAD/TrainForTrade and Dublin Port Company, sets to continue with the next training. Twenty middle managers from the local port community in Male’ will participate on Module 5, “Methods and tools of modern port management”, which focuses on strategic planning for port management, port statistics, and technological solutions in ports. A port expert from Dublin City University will deliver the module in collaboration with local instructors from the Maldives Ports Limited – many of whom are successful graduates from the previous cycle of the programme. Soutenances de mémoires et lancement d’un nouveau cycle de formation du programme portuaire à Douala, Cameroun Les jurys de soutenances des mémoires du huitième cycle de formation (promotion 8) du programme portuaire TrainForTrade de la CNUCED auront lieu les 26 et 27 avril 2012 dans les locaux du Port Autonome de Douala (PAD). Les soutenances se feront devant un panel international d'experts portuaires membres du réseau portuaire TrainForTrade. Les participants qui auront obtenu les notes suffisantes au cycle de formation et à la soutenance du mémoire recevront le certificat portuaire de la CNUCED. Difusión de los Módulos 5 del Programa de Capacitación Portuaria de la UNCTAD en Guatemala y Perú (11-16 abril 2012)
Se impartirá en la ciudad de Guatemala (Guatemala) y el Puerto del Callao (Perú) el módulo 5 del curso de "Gestión Moderna de Puertos" para funcionarios de las comunidades portuarias de ambos país. El curso se enmarca en el segundo ciclo de formación del Programa de Capacitación Portuaria de la UNCTAD en Guatemala y Perú, y es organizado por el Programa de TrainForTrade de la UNCTAD en cooperación con la Comisión Portuaria Nacional de Guatemala y Autoridad Portuaria Nacional del Perú, con el apoyo de Fundación Valenciaport. Estarán a cargo de la difusión del módulo instructores nacionales, capacitados en el marco del Programa de Capacitación Portuaria TrainForTrade y la Sra. Module 5 of UNCTAD/TrainForTrade Port Training Programme in Dar es Salaam Moving forward to the second half of the training cycle, Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA), in collaboration with UNCTAD, will train twenty-four port operators from the local port communities on Module 5 of the UNCTAD/TrainForTrade* Port Training Programme, “Methods and tools of modern port management”. The training will be delivered by local instructors from port communities in Dar es Salaam – many of whom were successfully trained by UNCTAD/TrainForTrade during the previous cycle of the programme. The module which focuses on strategic planning for management, port statistics, and technological solutions in ports will be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 16 to 20 April 2012. UNCTAD/TrainForTrade Module 3 port training delivery in Namibia in collaboration with Dublin Port Company and Namibian Ports Authority The Namibian Ports Authority (Namport), in collaboration with UNCTAD and Dublin Port Company, will train twenty-three port operators from the local port communities on Module 3 of the UNCTAD/TrainForTrade Port Training Programme, “the Functioning of a Port System”. The training will be delivered by Dublin Port Company, along side local instructors – many of whom were successfully trained by UNCTAD/TrainForTrade during the previous Training of Trainers on Module 1 to 4 last October. Participants will gain knowledge in the subjects which include: services rendered to ships, general cargo and container handling, and value added activities of the port. Maldives Ports Limited set to deliver Module 4 of UNCTAD Port Training Programme in Male’, Maldives From 11 to 24 March 2012, Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), in collaboration with UNCTAD and Dublin Port Company, will train 20 of its middle managers on Module 4, “Future Challenges to Ports”, of the UNCTAD/TrainForTrade Modern Port Management course. The module will be delivered by senior port specialists from the local port community, many of which were successfully trained by UNCTAD/TrainForTrade Port Training Programme in the previous cycle (2009-2011), and Head of Security of Dublin Port Company. Participants will gain knowledge in the subjects which include: the new competitive advantages of a port, the new social stability, health and safety in ports, the protection of the environment, and quality management. The training will be delivered by Dublin Port Company, along side local instructors – many of whom were successfully trained by UNCTAD/TrainForTrade during the previous cycle of the programme.
